Former station house gets arresting new look

The Daten Group has announced a new high end condominium development at 72 Poplar Street.

Once a home for New York’s “finest, the former police station house is being transformed into a 14-unit residential condominium with open floor plans and custom kitchens.

The developers have secured approvals from the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission to add two additional stories to the main building and one additional floor to the free-standing garage.

The main building will be renovated into 13 units that will feature high ceilings, wood floors, custom kitchens, and open floor plans.

The adjacent garage will also be renovated into a duplex townhouse, complete with a one-story garage, a private rear garden, finished roof deck and high-end finishes throughout.

David Ennis, president and founder of the Daten Group, said the two, three-and-four-bedrooms will be priced starting at $1,000 psf.

“The Brooklyn market is hot,ˮ said Ennis. “This historic former police precinct will become one of the trendiest new additions to the Brooklyn Heights market that rivals any development in Manhattan.”
Sales at 72 Poplar Street are set to start in the fall of 2013, with occupancy slated for the spring of 2014. Douglas Elliman, brokers Gregory Williamson and Rob Gross will handle sales .
