Creative Developer, Craig Rosenman

Rosenman and Ennis work closely on every deal with plans to grow The Daten Group’s portfolio to 1,000 units over the next three to four years.

Craig Rosenman brings a perfect blend of talents to The Daten Group LLC where he has partnered with the company’s Founder and President David Ennis. Since joining Daten in January 2011 as the Director of Acquisitions, Rosenman has been quite active in helping the firm to acquire and develop several residential projects located throughout the New York metropolitan market.

The two met in 2008 as members of Entrepreneur’s Organization and became instant friends. A year later, after selling his family business, Stuyvesant Fuel, Rosenman decided to pursue his passion, real estate development. Ennis invited his friend to work in his business for several months to see if it was the “right fit” for him. He immediately took to the business and in true entrepreneurial fashion, the pair decided to launch their first real estate acquisition fund in January 2011. Discussing why Rosenman was the perfect fit for The Daten Group, Ennis noted, “While others were shying away from real estate, Craig shared my vision of tremendous buying opportunities.”

Realizing the need for additional equity to account for the banks lack of lending, one of Rosenman’s first endeavors was the formation of The Daten Group’s first real estate fund. The fund provides the company with significant financial leverage to acquire undervalued assets without bank financing. “We don’t have to worry about outside funding to make our deals happen,” said Rosenman. “Our internal fund provides the ability to close quickly with our own cash and that gives us a competitive advantage in the market.”

Since joining The Daten Group in 2009, Rosenman has added tremendous value by attracting investors and finding “seed” money for the firm’s new projects that include turning a failed residential conversion into a modern 14-unit residential condominium at 72 Poplar Street in Brooklyn Heights and other projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. The company is now building three luxury rental buildings in downtown White Plains with a local joint-venture partner. “There is a strong market need for this type of housing in the suburbs and we are very excited about this project,” added Rosenman.

Rosenman and Ennis work closely on every deal with plans to grow The Daten Group’s portfolio to 1,000 units over the next three to four years.

While Rosenman is a real estate expert with a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development from New York University’s Shack Institute, he brings a unique and different perspective to The Daten Group. After graduating NYU in 1999 with a BFA degree in film, the budding entrepreneur launched his own new media and branding company, L2R Creative. Rosenman created logos and ad campaigns for clients like Biz Bash, The Rubin Group and Global Bay. After the September 11 attacks, he decided to sell the company and join his family business, Stuyvesant Fuel Service Corp as Director of Sales and Terminal Operations at Stuyvesant Fuel.

It came as no surprise to his family and himself, that Rosenman played a key role in the company’s growth into the second largest distributor of heating oil and natural gas in the New York metropolitan area. The company had annual revenues of $500 million and was listed by Crain’s New York Business as one of the city’s 100 largest private companies. In 2009, Craig helped sell Stuyvesant to their largest competitor, The Hess Corporation. “Our customers at Stuyvesant represented New York real estate in all its forms,” said Rosenman, whose experience there helped him forge a smooth transition into the challenging real estate industry and The Daten Group.

When he’s not working, Rosenman is involved in such charities as The First Tee, UJA and LLS. He is an avid golfer and triathlete. Craig has raised over $50,000 competing in triathlons for the benefit of LLS.

He resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with his wife and two young daughters.
